Chicago, IL – United Airlines is seeking a highly skilled Principal Architect – Application Cybersecurity to join their team. This remote position offers a competitive salary range of $137,275 to $187,000, plus bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and flight privileges. Job Summary:
The Principal Architect – Application Cybersecurity will play a key role in validating the security of United Airlines’ services, applications, and websites. This senior-level position involves collaborating with development and product teams to integrate security throughout the software development lifecycle. Responsibilities include architecture design evaluations, threat modeling, code analysis, and providing security guidance to developers. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in application security with a deep understanding of DevOps/DevSecOps practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading architecture design evaluations and threat modeling.
- Recommending and implementing security products and services.
- Serving as the technical point of contact for product teams on security matters.
- Designing and implementing security best practices and standards.
- Performing code analysis using various tools and techniques.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of security strategy.
- Mentoring junior team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in software development and/or cybersecurity.
- Expert knowledge of DevOps/DevSecOps (CI/CD, IaC, PaC, CaC).
- Knowledge of modern software development practices (containerization, microservices).
- Proficiency with application testing tools (SAST, DAST, MAST, Pen Test).
- Proficiency with programming languages (C# or Java preferred).
- Proficiency with Software Development Lifecycle processes.
- Proficiency with web and app security stack (API security).
- Proficient in cloud technologies (AWS preferred).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Security certifications (CEH, GSEC, CISM, Security+, CISSP, CISA, SSCP, CASP+, OSCP).
- 12 years of experience in a related field.
- Proficiency with application penetration testing.
- Experience implementing Secure SDLC frameworks.
- Proficient knowledge of cloud security infrastructure technologies.
- Proficient in LLM/GenAI technologies.
- Proficient in mobile development technologies.
- Expert knowledge of OWASP Top 10.
- Proficiency with security automation tooling and methods.
